African traditional jacket
These jackets are replica of traditional jackets worn by high priests of secrets societies in some African tribes like the Bamileke in the Grasslands, Cameroon.
They wore these jackets when celebration the release ( graduation) of high priests after a long period of initiation. The clothes used to be hand woven with dyed raffia fibers and sisal fibers. The original ornaments were cowrie shells, snail shells, bronze bells, animal teeth and small bones, and other figurines and objects of worship. Nowadays, raffia fabrics have been replaced by modern fabrics and the ornaments are just replica figurines of the original model, except for shells.
